William "Bill" Passmore of Mt. Olive Township, NJ died March 7, 2021 at his son's residence on Camano Island, WA after a short illness while still mourning the loss of his wife Doris in December of 2020. He was 90 years old. A native of Tennessee, he moved to NJ in 1945 and worked for Treadways Express until he entered the Army in 1948. He is a Korean veteran who served with distinction in combat. Upon discharge from the Army, he went to work for Jersey Central Power & Light Company and retired in 1985 after 31 years. He was a licensed NJ real estate salesman for many years and a Special Police Officer in Mt. Olive Township in the 70's. He was an Endowment member of the National Rifle Association, an associate member of North Jersey Masonic Lodge #18, Fraternal Order of Police since 1969 and a member of American Legion Post 0278 of Stanhope. He was president of the Mt. Olive Police Pistol Club from 1970 to present.
He is preceded in death by his wife Doris and survived by his two children Gary Passmore and his wife Marie, of Camano Island, WA and Gail Woodburn and her husband Larry of Hackettstown, NJ. Nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, four nephews, and seven nieces.
Graveside services for family and friends of Bill and Doris Passmore will be held in Mt. Olive Township, NJ in May or June due to the COVID 19 restrictions enacted on gatherings by New Jersey.
