William Henry Hutter

(April 3, 1928 – December 21, 2018)

William (Bud) Hutter beloved father and husband of Nellie Mae went to be with the Lord Friday December 21st. He was born April 3,1928 in Big Bay Michigan, the second of four children. He graduated from Marquette High School and attended Suomi College in Upper Michigan until he felt a call to be a pastor and missionary. He then attended Lutheran Bible Institute in Chicago where he met his wife Nellie Mae Norem. They were married in 1950, then he attended Lutheran Brethren seminary in Fergus Falls, MN, after which they served churches in Malta MT, Lisbon and Aurora, IL. The Hutters served as missionaries to Bolivia and returned to Bolivia a second term by driving a new International Harvester double cabin pickup from Illinois to the Panama Canal on the recently completed Pan-American Highway taking 28 days and going through 48 rivers. They then continued by ship to Peru completing the trip over a 15,000 ft mountain pass to La Paz, Bolivia. Traveling with 4 children from 3-9 yrs old he drew on his adventurous spirit growing up on Lake Superior hunting and fishing. In Bolivia he directed and taught in a Bible school for the Aymara Indians at 10,000 ft in the Andes. After returning to Illinois, he pastored St Olaf Lutheran in Aurora for 15 years, then pastored Denny Park Lutheran in Seattle WA for 9 years. He then took a church in Seaview WA until his retirement. He and Nellie Mae then moved to Camaloch on Camano Island WA where he continued to serve as a pastor filling in for vacationing ministers, as well as volunteering as a chaplain in several community institutions. Proceeded in death by his dear wife Nellie Mae. He is survived by son Bruce, daughters Norma Scott, Rhoda Ametsitsi (Julius), Debbie Campbell (Franklin), Cheryl Toilolo (Tavita), Grace Kline (John); 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Funeral service will be at Our Savior's Lutheran, Stanwood, WA on January 12 at 11am followed by lunch and then internment at Camano Lutheran Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given to Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Stanwood, the World Mission Prayer League (www.wmpl.org), or to A Cup of Cold Water Ministries (www.ccwm.org).
