Vivian Fleming passed away peacefully Sunday, January 12 surrounded by her family.

She was born in Sumas, Washington on August 11, 1929 to Anne and Henry Warner. She spent her early years living on a farm and attending school in Abbottsford, BC. She eventually made her way to Bellingham in 1947, graduating from Bellingham High school in 1949.

Vivan was born to be a caregiver and had that special nurturing nature about her. She attended nursing school in Bellingham, graduating in the mid-1950s with an LPN certification.

She worked briefly at St. Josephs hospital in Bellingham before moving to Stanwood with her husband Gene Fleming. In 1964, she began working at Josephine Sunset Home where she spent the next 40 years caring for the elderly, finally retiring in 2004. Being one to always stay busy, she began volunteering at the Stanwood/Camano Food Bank not long after retirement and continued to do so until around 2015.

She loved children and the elderly always taking time to talk with them as she passed by. Over the span of her life, she enjoyed spending time with her family, outdoors gardening, bingo with friends and volunteering. She was a huge Mariners fan rarely missing a game -- she especially loved Ichiro.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Doreen and Jeanette, son Gary and her loving husband, Gene.

She is survived by her sister Charlene Heller, daughters Judy Church, Connie Land (Randy), Becky Fleming (Tim) and son-in-law Todd Jacobsen, grandchildren Tara, Richard, Derek, Vanessa and Sarah, and great-grandchildren Tyler, Deyshawn, Kyson, Autumn and Sabriel.

The family will be holding a private graveside service.
