Violet Eloise York

Violet Eloise York, 96 passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 16, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.

Violet was born on Aug. 28, 1925, in Taylor, ND. She was the first of five children born to Harold and Esther Stanger. She spent her youth in Taylor. Her family moved to Washington in her teen years. She attended Arlington High School where she met Herbert York. Her family moved back to North Dakota when she was in the tenth grade. Herb traveled back to Taylor to propose to Violet. They were married in Dickinson, ND on Sept. 9, 1942, and they made their home in Arlington, WA.

Violet was a homemaker when her children were young, she was a den mother for her son's Cub Scout troop and was a Campfire leader for her girls. She worked as a straw boss in the strawberry fields for several years. She found great joy when she became a meat wrapper for Thrifty Foods in Arlington and later traveling to other store locations in our area. She retired and spent her later years loving on and helping to raise her grandbabies.

Violet was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Esther Stanger; her husband Herbert York; brothers, Harold (Sonny), Howard and Everett Stanger; sister Marian McGhee; grandsons David Englert and Justin Taylor.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda Taylor and Sharon (Rick) Hrdlicka, son Herbert (Paula) York; grandchildren Teri (Todd) Wilson, Tracy (Brian) Bryant, Ray (Beth) York, and Jason (Stephanie) Raimondi; great grandchildren, Christopher Bryant, Taylor and Kennedy Englert, Felecia and Colton York, Nico Raimondi; great great grandchildren Aela and Carter Bryant and Jaden Englert.

Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 24, 2022, at the Arlington Seventh-Day Adventist Church with light refreshments following. A time of visitation prior to funeral beginning at 10 a.m. Graveside services will take place at the Arlington Cemetery at 1 p.m.
