Gertrude (Trudy) Sather
Trudy Sather, of Stanwood, WA, passed away at the age of 83 on
January 7, 2011, following a stroke. Trudy was born on July 10, 1927, in Ellensburg, WA., to Philip and Lela Schnebly, the youngest of five children.
Trudy graduated from Ellensburg High School in 1944 and went on to graduate from Washington State College in 1948 with degrees in Sociology and Psychology.
In 1950, Trudy married Palmer Sather and moved to Stanwood, WA., where they have made their home for the past 60 years. Trudy was busy raising her family of four daughters on the family farm and in 1964, Palmer and Trudy built the Farmette Drive-In. After selling the drive-in, Trudy was a typesetter and proofreader for the Stanwood News newspaper for 11 years before retiring.
Trudy enjoyed her yard work and loved her flowers. She took great pride in making her house a home for her family.
Trudy is survived by her husband of 60 years, Palmer Sather and daughters; Donna Sabin of Woodinville, granddaughter, Beth Sabin of New York, Paula Sather of Seattle, Pamela Sather of Seattle and Lisa Sather of Mt. Vernon.
A celebration of Trudy's life is planned for 11 am at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church on January 22.
