Thor Christian Stangeland, age 48, of Snohomish, WA, passed away unexpectedly on January 13, 2024, at Providence Hospital in Everett, WA. He was born on February 13, 1975, in Mount Vernon, WA. Thor was a beloved son of Louie and Janet Stangeland. He was sibling to Elizabeth Stangeland-Ogg (Richard), Leif Stangeland (Karen), Kjell Stangeland, and Krista Stangeland-Cairus (Mike).

Thor is survived by his children: Lars, Freyja, Torunn, and Axel Stangeland. He was life partner to Karrie Butler and her children: Wyatt, Ruby, Holly, Waylon, and Mindy. Thor was uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend to many.

Thor attended and graduated from Stanwood High School in 1993. He was a standout athlete in football, wrestling, and baseball. In 1993, Thor was WIAA state wrestling champion at 190 pounds and, later inducted into the inaugural class of Stanwood Athletics Hall of fame in 2011. After graduating from high school, Thor pursued higher education and wrestling at North Idaho College in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. He was a member of the 1995 National Championship wrestling team for NIC at Bismarck, North Dakota.

Throughout his life, Thor found great joy and fulfillment in his career as a farmer and truck driver. He dedicated himself to cultivating the land and providing for his community. He enjoyed going to anything related to farming.

A celebration of Thor's life will be held at Peace Lutheran Church in Silvana, WA, on February 24, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity in memory of Thor.

Thor will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and the community he touched.
