Obituary

Thomas Cummings passed away peacefully in his home on January 13, 2021. He was with his brother Dennis and children Raelynn and Brandon when he died. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Tom was born in Portland, Oregon on November 12, 1950 to Esther Leona Cummings (Huppert.) He was the youngest of 3 boys. He attended Holy Family Catholic School in White Center and graduated from Federal Way Highschool in 1969. He served in the US Army in 1971 and 1972. He was a Clerical Specialist (SP4) in the Vietnam War. When he returned home, he completed a degree in computer programming at Peterson ITT. He then went on to start working at Chubb Group of Insurance. After 30 years of service, he retired from Chubb in 2005.

Some things we will never forget about Tom. He collected everything Star Trek and often quoted the episodes before the actors finished their lines. He was a serious card player. Every August, he took off 2 weeks to go camping with his family. He spent many days at the movies. The 007 James Bond books and movies were some of his favorites. He was a big fan of the Beatles as well.

Tom looked forward to monthly lunches with former coworkers. He always ordered fish and chips! He also took off on yearly adventures with his life long friend Steve Lyons. He often reminisced about their camping trips, time in England and Alaskan adventures.

Tom's surviving family members include his daughter Raelynn (Philip) Jacobs and sons Tom Owens and Brandon Cummings. Granddaughters Aricela and Zoe Jacobs. Uncle Paul Huppert, Aunt Sharon Huppert, Brother Dennis Cummings and Sister-in-Law Jeri Cummings. Tom also leaves behind nieces, nephews and cousins who he always looked forward to spending time with.

Tom's family members who preceded him in death are his grandmother Elizabeth Huppert, his mother Esther Cummings, his brother Michael Cummings and his granddaughter Everly Jacobs.

Due to Covid-19 we will wait to host a gathering, until restrictions have been lifted. Please join us at that time to commemorate and share stories about our beloved Tom.
