Theodore "Ted" E. Wells was born on June 4, 1955 in Omak Washington. Ted passed away peacefully in his home with his loving wife by his side on October 24, 2018.
When Ted was 5, he and his family moved to Tacoma where he attended St. Joseph elementary school through the 2nd grade, then onto Panther Lake in Federal Way through 7th grade, finally finishing middle school at Olympic View. Ted graduated high school in 1973 from Mariner High School in Everett.
Following graduation he joined the U.S. Navy in 1973 where he was commissioned on the
USS Kitty Hawk in October of 1973. As part of troop WestPAC Ted's 1st cruise took him to the Philippines then back to port in San Diego in time for Christmas. His 2nd Cruise '74-'75 became a shell back on this one on the way to the Indian Ocean. From there he traveled to Pearl Harbor, Mombasa, Singapore, Japan twice finally leaving the Navy in June in 1976 from the Kokoku Plastic Outfit. The Navy is where Ted developed love for cruising the Ocean.
After leaving the Navy, Ted went to work at Boeing in 1978 where he joined a new airplane at the time, the 767. Ted spent all 34 years in Quality Assurance on the 767 Program and retired as a Sr. Manager.
In his spare time, Ted loved to golf. He started at the age of 10 and continued all the way through this past September. Ted was a good golfer and got the opportunity to play at some of the top courses in the US and Mexico including in Las Vegas, Florida, Hawaii, Cabo San Lucas etc.…
In addition to golf, Ted loved traveling and cruising with his wife Mary Jane and many, many friends and family. His favorite places on earth are Aruba, St. Martin, all of the Caribbean, Cabo San Lucas, Las Vegas, Eastern Cruises, NYC, Spokane and Moses Lake.
He was a certified scuba diver through PADI Master-diver. He loved and played the piano with his daughter Aurora. His other hobbies included road tripping, snowmobiling, Harley riding, jet skiing, shooting guns and drinking fine wine from wineries he visited. He loved to entertain.
Ted is survived by his wife Mary Jane; parents Teddy A. and Dorothy Wells; his two brothers Rick (Sonya) Wells, Ron Wells, his sister Cathy (Jeff) Nelson; his two sons, Bryce and Devin Wells, his daughter Aurora (Richard) Means; his two step daughters Heather (Mike) Dunlap and Tiffany Hendry; stepson Derek (Jacquelyne) Hendry; his seven grandkids; Logan, Zoey and Evie Means, Drew and Claire Dunlap, Emma Hendry and Kate Hendry.
Service to be held at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Stanwood Saturday Nov 10th @ 11:00 am.
Memorials may be made to Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Providence Hospice in Everett, or a charity of your choice.
