Theodore Raymond Snowden
December 19, 1923 - May 5, 2017
We lost a true "character" on May 5, 2017, as Ted passed away at his home at the age of 93.
Few could tell a better story, and no one could outmatch him joke for joke.
Ted was so fortunate to have close family members care for him on a daily basis so he was able to stay in his own home with his dog, Bentley. Ted and Bentley were best buds!
Born in Mount Vernon, Washington, to Charles and Opha Snowden, Ted had a brother, Larry, and sisters, Claudia and Doris. Ted served in the Army Air Force during WWII.
Ted married Ellen Rutherford on December 21, 1946. They made their home on Camano Island. Together, they had many business ventures. Their businesses included Snowden Logging, Snowden Well Digging, Camano Towing, and Tyee Grocery. Ted loved to camp, fish, and garden. His favorite camping place was Eight Mile Creek near Winthrop.
Ted is survived by his five children, Leslie (John) Maher, Ed (Ramona) Snowden, Wendy (Harry) Matlick, Robin (Tim) Oxborough, Charles (Julie) Snowden, and grandchildren: Jeff (Brandi), John (Robin), Julie (Bill), Joanie, Jared, Dan (Carrie), Steve (Megan), Jill, Heidi (Ken), Jace, Mike (Stephanie), Tamie (Bryce), Keith, and twenty-five great-grandchildren.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be at Anderson Cemetery, Stanwood.
