Mom went to be with the Lord on March 29, 2016 in Everett, Wa. surrounded by family. Thelma Marie Christensen was born in Vancouver, Canada on December 2,1925 to John Duncan and Edith Maude Harris and attended East Stanwood High School. It was there she met Maynard W. Christensen, whom she would be married to for nearly 70 years.
They had 3 children and all moved to Anchorage, Ak in 1949 where she lovingly cared for her family while Maynard began his career at Alaska Airlines. On January 18, 1954, she became a US citizen. Later that year, Thelma contracted polio. She would live with this for the rest of her life, but it would not stop her from being a devoted wife and mother.
During retirement, they summered in Ocean Shores, Wa and wintered in Yuma, Az. It was in Yuma that Thelma pursued her love of painting. She would take classes and continually bless those around her with her beautiful art. Her paintings hang in many homes to this day.
Thelma is preceded in death by her husband Maynard W. Christensen and son Bruce Christensen. She leaves behind her son Lynn, his wife, and 3 children, Bruce's 2 children, and her daughter Gayle and 1 child. They live in Washington, Idaho, Alaska, and California. She also has 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She will be remembered for her quick wit and kind heart. We love you Mom!
There will be a graveside service held at Anderson Cemetery at 7630 Pioneer Hwy, Stanwood, Wa 98292 on April 9 at 11:00am followed immediately by a time to celebrate Thelma's life at Lynn Christensen's home, 19628 118th St, SE. Snohomish, Wa 98290.
