Obituary

Tanya M. Anderson (formerly, Tanya "Babe" Dunstone), passed away quietly in her home on Camano Island Nov 25th. She was surrounded by family in her final days, while also graced with the compassionate services of Hospice NW, whose palliative care team was invaluable in navigating her inescapable decline from FTD.

Pau hana! Tanya retired at 70, in 2013, and was celebrated lovingly by family, friends and co-workers. After a tricky summer of dodging wildfires in their travel trailer, she and her husband, Jon, happily traded their misadventures on the road for the quiet island lifestyle. They adopted 'Max' from a local animal shelter and the three of them were inseparable til the end.

Throughout her life Tanya enjoyed golfing, gardening, and the enduring gift of music that filled her soul. As her 20' putts began to recede she hung up her clubs, but the music inside her played on. She eagerly took to exploring the natural beauty of the Island. The sights and sounds of her new home renewed her sense of wonder. Seeing the local horses gave way to nostalgia as she recalled her childhood mare, 'Smokey'. And the occasional glimpse of a classic car passing by always inspired an enthusiastic, "Woo-hoo!" It was in the simple joys of watching backyard birds, taking afternoon walks and collecting special rocks that Tanya found ease. She cherished the comforts of home.

Tanya is survived by her beloved husband and golf guru Jon, their best buddy Max, her brother, her son and daughter (from a previous marriage), daughter-in-law, step daughter, nieces, nephews and grand-dogs galore! Tanya also enjoyed many extended family and friends over the years, as she was quick to welcome and embrace those around her. Although she raised her family with just two kids of her own-many called her Mom.

Tanya will be missed, yet, her gift of kindness and love of music will live in memoriam. Remember her well and celebrate her spirit with generosities of heart, inspired acts of benevolence and a sweet song to carry on.

Aloha nui loa, Mom~
