Susan G. Cole of Camano Island died March 27, 2018. She was 72 years old and was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2009. Susan was born in Pennsylvania and grew up in Philadelphia the only daughter of Allan and Hannah Gurwood. She loved to read and graduated a proud Nittany Lion from Penn State University with a degree in English. Susan and her young family moved to Gig Harbor in 1976. She met and married John Cole in 1996 and they moved to Camano Island in 1997 where she lived until her death. Susan's love of books and libraries led to a professional career with the Pierce County Library system where she worked for many years and formed many lasting friendships. Following their move to Camano Island, Susan was an active volunteer for the Stanwood Senior Center for many years and was a volunteer emeritus, a position and activity for which she was very proud. Susan is survived by her loving husband, John Cole, and three sons Josh (Molly), Aaron, Ben Morse, and by her grandson Levi. We will miss and remember her always for her many interests including books and movies (good and bad), her companionship, love of cats and the affection she showed her grandson. Her family wishes to thank the caring healthcare team at Skagit Valley Hospital Regional Cancer Center for the many years of kindness and support provided to Susan and John. At Susan's request there will be no funeral or memorial service.
