Obituary

The world is a little less colorful after the loss of our wife, mom and "Granny", Sue Ann Smith (Johnson). She passed away on December 12th, after a short battle with cancer.

She was born in Seattle, WA on February 7, 1937. She graduated (1955) from Twin City High School in Stanwood and attended Western Washington University in Bellingham. At Western, she met her husband Ronald G. Smith and they were married at the Methodist church in Stanwood. They would have celebrated their 67th year of marriage this January. Ron and Sue were proud owners of a motel in Everett (Topper Motel), where they worked hard and raised their family (three sons).

After retirement, they spent quite a bit of time traveling the world. They also moved to Sue Ann's childhood home at Lake Goodwin where they spent many happy years entertaining and spending time with family and friends. The 4th of July at Lake Goodwin was always a favorite time of year for Sue. She loved to share her joy of the lake, sunshine, laughter, love, and of course…decorations!

Sue Ann could often be found tending to her beautiful flowers and garden, which for many years has boasted an array of vibrant colors and fragrant blooms. She loved to decorate for every holiday, especially Christmas, with incredible decorations, which transformed her home into a festive sight enjoyed by all who came to visit. Her decorations and love for the garden will be missed by all who had the pleasure of seeing and enjoying them.

She loved her friendships and time spent with her Lakewood Bunco Group and the Providence Children's Assoc. Guild. She was also a longtime member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Everett.

Sue Ann is preceded in death by her son Richard (Rick) Smith, her parents Forrest and Lettie Johnson and step-mother Rhoda Johnson. She leaves her husband Ronald Smith and sister-in-law Sharon Smith; her sons Duane "Jay" (Jahna) and Wade Smith; her grandchildren Mariah (fiancé Dennis Miller) and Noah Smith, and her many friends, all of whom she dearly adored.

We will be planning a celebration of life next spring so we can do what she loved the most and enjoy some spring blooms the beautiful lake and home that she treasured so much!
