Shirley O. Winterhalter
On Wednesday, July 20, 2016, Shirley Winterhalter passed from this life into her eternal one, being reunited with her husband, Joseph.
Shirley Olea Lindsheim was born on August 14, 1925, in Seattle, Washington to Ole and Bertha Lindsheim. Graduating from Ballard High School in 1943, she attended college in Alaska and returned to Seattle to work at Frederick & Nelson. It was there that she met Joseph Winterhalter, whom she married on May 15, 1947.
Joe and Shirley raised two boys, Mark and Kurt, and she spent time as an active member of the Eastern Star and Ballard Elks Club. In 1954, they purchased a farm in Silvana, Washington and in 1969, moved there permanently. She was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church and enjoyed attending lutefisk dinners and other Norwegian functions with her family.
Shirley was a fixture of the community, seen driving her famous 1964 Buick to get her hair done at the Cinderella Beauty Salon in Arlington and then returning through Silvana making her routine stops.
She is survived by her two sons, Mark (Boots) and Kurt (Renee), along with her six grandchildren, Seth (Rachel), Kelly (Wes), Justin (Malori), Chad, Amanda, Keri (Brett) and eight great-grandchildren as well as many special friends she loved so dearly.
A memorial service will be held at 11am on Friday, July 29th, at Peace Lutheran Church in Silvana. A private graveside service will be held for the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Peace Lutheran Church or the Silvana Fire Department (District 19).
