Shawn Patrick Madigan peacefully ascended to our Lord and Savior, December 26th 2009 at age 42, after a long and courageous battle with Juvenile diabetes. Shawn was born July 15, 1967 and grew up in Stanwood, WA. He graduated from Stanwood High School in 1985. Later in life he moved to Everett and opened his own painting company, 'Shawn's Painting'. Shawn also worked for many years in casinos enjoying his days as a blackjack dealer. Shawn will be remembered for the passionate love he had for his family and the amazing ability to find humor in any situation. He treasured every moment with his children and they were his favorite topic of conversation. Shawn also loved all kinds of sports and could be found most of the time wearing a Notre Dame hat. A much loved past time for him was playing basketball at the Everett YMCA while he was able to, as well as watching his children, nephews and niece play.
He leaves behind his children Brittney, Brooke, Shawn and Jordan whom he loved and adored. Shawn also leaves his mother, Carol Ronken; sisters Linda (Todd) and Lisa (Jim) Madigan and Susan Ronken of Stanwood, WA; nephews Michael, Ryan and Tyson Schroyer and niece Morgan Wietzke. Aunts Julie Ronken, Carol Waisanen and Lenore (Don) Moa; uncles Alan (Bonnie) Fure and Dave Metcalf; cousins Gary Husby, Ramona (Ed) Snowden, Keith (Judy) Austin and Kim (Leon) Borden; Former wife, Twila Madigan and her father Bob Kahlor; along with many good friends and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ted Ronken; grandparents Stan and Violet Ronken; grandparents Knute and Violet Mjoen; Grandfather Raymond Husby and his special friend and cousin, Craig Husby.
Special thanks to Alan Restauro and Myrna Brewer who are two angels that cared for Shawn during his difficult times.
A memorial service will be held at Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Stanwood at 11AM on January 2, 2010. Where Shawn was baptized and confirmed. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation made in Shawn's name.
