April, 8th 1936 – December 1st 2017



Scott Rutherford, 81, of Camano Island, WA passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving wife, children and grandchildren on December 1st 2017.  Scott was born in Darby, PA on April 8th 1936 to Catherine and Alastair Rutherford.  He graduated from West Chester High School, PA in 1954.  He served with distinction in the U.S. Air Force as a Russian language specialist.  While in the service Scott met his devoted wife of 55 yrs., Elizabeth.  Scott and Elizabeth communicated via love letters while he was stationed in Japan.  Upon his return to stateside they were happily married.



After military service he attended and graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a B.A. in Political Science in 1965.  He also attended the UCLA School of Business where he received an honorary Masters Degree in 1992.



Upon retirement from a career in business management, he followed his passions for traveling, education, music, art and the theater.   Scott's appreciation for public education motivated him to volunteer for the Stanwood/Camano School District as an adviser on the Financial Advisory Committee.  He performed with the Skagit Valley Choral for many years.



Scott is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Rutherford, daughter, Julia (John) Parker, son Scott W. (Angie) Rutherford, grandchildren John A Parker, Catherine Parker, Madisen Cork and Ashleigh Cork and brother, Alastair Rutherford.



The family extends our gratitude for the compassionate and attentive care provided by the medical personnel of Harborview Medical Center, Seattle WA.



There will be a Celebration of Life to be announced at later date.
