Obituary

Sally (Sarah) Anne Sullivan was born February 4, 1940 in Seattle, WA... to Leo & Beatrice Sullivan. Raised on Capital Hill in an Irish Catholic family, Sally was the 11th of 13 children. She attended holy Names Academy in Seattle and went on to St. Joseph's Nursing, graduating with honors. Sally started her career as a Registered Nurse at Skagit Valley Hospital, where she met her future husband Peter. Many of her years working were spend caring for the elderly and their families. In three of the facilities, she led her staff as Director of Nursing Services. Sally was known for her true compassion and gentle spirit towards her patients.

On August 14th 1970, Sally married Peter E. McDougall at St. Catherine's Church in Seattle, WA. Their marriage was blessed with four children, two boys and two girls; Ed McDougall of Stanwood, Christine (Jake) Klett and Mary (Tracy) Lindahl all of Camano Island. Michael Leo who blessed our family for a brief time was waiting for his mommy in heaven. Sally's greatest joy was time pent with her family and especially her 6 grandsons; Brandon, Nick, Jeff, Josh, Riley and Logan. Throughout her life, Sally had many talents and hobbies including; cooking, gardening, knitting, painting, sketching, playing the piano and singing in the church choir.

Along with so many other health struggles, less than two years ago Sally was st5icken with MRSA . She fought bravely against this infection for 4 months in the summer of 2007. Sally was determined to return to work and her patients in spite of never fully recovering from this illness.

Sally's beautiful life was a reflection of her response to the calling of Our Lord. To be His ears to hear, His eyes to see, His hands to touch & hold all those she came in contact with especially her family and those she ministered to as a Nurse.

Sally passed away suddenly on February 17, 2009 with her family surrounding her. She will truly be missed by all who knew her.
