IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Roslie F
Mcvay
April 3, 1953 – January 5, 2022
Rosalie Frances Fraga White McVay
(1953 - 2021)
Rosalie Frances Fraga White McVay was born in Hawthorne, California, on April 3rd, 1953. She grew up in Manhattan Beach with her parents, sister, and two brothers. Rosalie loved the beach as a child. She was very close to her maternal grandparents and spent many holidays with them camping and clamming at Pismo Beach. Rosalie attended Mira Costa High School where she was an excellent student and involved in Drama, Modern Dance, and school politics. Upon graduation, Rosalie followed in her Mother's footsteps and attended Mt. St. Mary's College in Brentwood, California. She graduated in three years with a degree in Mathematics. Rosalie began her first career with TRW as a high-security computer programmer. Her first marriage was to Kevin White with whom she had their son, Joshua. Tragically, Kevin died in a car accident in 1978. After Kevin's death, Rosalie continued to work for TRW where she rekindled an old friendship, which quickly became a romantic one, with her soon-to-be second husband, Kent McVay. They had two children together, Emily and Colin. In 1987, they moved to Fayetteville, Georgia, where Kent was employed by Delta Airlines. After the the move to Georgia, Rosalie decided on a career change. She went back to school and got her high school teaching credential. She joined the Fayette County High School Mathematics department where she taught all levels of math for the next 20 years. She was active in the local Episcopal Church and the Southern Crescent Chorale as well as other community groups. Rosalie and Kent travelled extensively throughout the world, making new friends in many places. In 2013, Rosalie and Kent moved to their beautiful home on Camano Island, Washington. She became involved with all sorts of community programs including the local chorale, the homeowners association, food bank programs, PCMA, and Tai Chi. Rosalie loved art and was famous for her beautifully crocheted baby blankets which were special gifts to many a newborn. Rosalie also loved gardening, crabbing, animals (especially Albert, the cat), and was the proud new grandmother of little Valerie Faeh Montoya McVay. She was predeceased by her parents, George and Genevieve, her brothers, George and Paul, and her husband, Kent. She is survived by her Sister, Margaret, and her children Joshua, Colin, and Emily as well as two generations of nieces and nephews.
Rosalie will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that all donations be sent to the Stanwood Community Food Bank in her honor.
