Our bright star Rosemary Barson passed away peacefully in her sleep in her condo at Utsalady Cove on Camano Island the morning of October 29th, 2015.
Services will be held at St. Cecilia's in Stanwood on Thursday, November 5th beginning with a Rosary at 10:00AM and Life Celebration Mass at 11:00am led by Father William Tracy. Directly following mass there will be a gathering to remember the Life, Love, and Faith that Rosemary shared with us all.
Rosemary was the third of eight children of Emma and Tom Doyle and is survived by her Husband Richard, Sister Mary Moran, Son Craig and wife Kathy, Stepson Rick and wife Rosemary and Granddaughter Evie.
Rosemary was born and raised in Mishawaka, Indiana and graduated from Mishawaka High School, Class of 1946. In 1953 she married Richard Barson, and in 1954 gave birth to her son, Craig Joseph. They lived in Muskegon, Michigan from 1958 to 1962 when they moved to Seattle, Washington where Rosemary became an avid bowler with a Seattle league. She took night classes for bookkeeping while working as a bank teller for Seafirst bank and a tax preparer for H&R Block. Rosemary, Richard, and Craig finally settled on Camano Island in 1972.
Rosemary spent her life on Camano Island volunteering her time to the Stanwood and Camano Communities through her work with The Mabana Flames, St. Cecilia's Ladies Guild, two decades at Stanwood/Camano Thrift store, and a decade plus as Secretary to Father William Tracy of St. Cecilia's Church. She continued her bowling in Stanwood on a league at Tyee Lanes. Later in her life she enjoyed snow birding with her husband to Mazatlan Mexico in Washington's colder months. Her love was felt by friends from Canada to Mexico and she will be missed.
