Roger Denny Covert

May 6, 1927 - October 9, 2018

Roger Covert, age 91, passed away on October 9, 2018 in Stanwood, Wa. Roger was born in Everett to Lloyd and Doris Covert on May 6, 1927.

Roger graduated early from Everett High School and enlisted in the Navy, where he deployed for WWII in 1945. Upon his return, he attended Everett Community College and University of Puget Sound.  He pursued a career in education, and worked as a teacher, coach and administrator for many years.

He loved sports and his cabin on Mutiny Bay. His true passion was racing sprint cars at Skagit Speedway and Deming Speedway with his grandson Alec and his wife Carol.

At the center of his life was family. He is survived by his wife, Carol (Standish) and his four children Stu (Robin), Jamie Huden (Joe), Kristin Davis (Scott), Jon (Jennifer), and step-son Mike Standish. Grandchildren, Kyle, Corinne, Ben, Autum, Alec, Austen, Carson, Ian, Coleman, Rawley, Christian and Allison. Great Grandchildren, Derrick, Jaina, Lauren, Maya, Mason, Owen    And of course his dog Baxter.

A memorial service will be held October 24th at 1:00 at Gilbertson Funeral Home (27001 88th Ave NW, Stanwood 98292).
