IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert Martin
Otterson
May 26, 1946 – January 30, 2022
Robert Martin Otterson, age 75, of Stanwood passed away surrounded by family January 30, 2022 at Providence Hospital in Everett. He collapsed from a heart attack doing what he loved, caring for his sheep with his dogs by his side. Robert was born on May 26, 1946 in Seattle, Washington to Harold and Maude (Schnase) Otterson. Harold and Maude had met through the jewelry business and later owned and operated Otterson Jewelers in the Pike Place Market.
Robert (Bob) graduated from Ingraham High School in 1964 and continued his education at Central Washington University, earning his Bachelor of Arts in Education and Professional Teaching Certificate in 1974.
Bob had a natural born gift in the creative fields of interior design, graphics, architecture, drawing and painting. His business, Robert Otterson Designer, produced both commercial and residential projects. Dating back to the first Red Robin restaurant in Seattle, Bob worked on numerous hospitality, hotel and restaurant designs over the years.
In his later years, he had a passion for farm life where he raised horses, sheep and border collies. He spent much of his time dedicated to design/build projects, his sailing boat, caretaking the animals, training his dogs, and attending sheepdog trials.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; Harold Anton Otterson and Maude Eleanor Schnase. He leaves behind 3 children; Martin Otterson (Kathy), Kirsten Riesenweber (fiance Michael Rico) and Carly Otterson; his sister, Betsy (Otterson) Hough (Jim); 2 nephews; Erik Hansen and Brian Hansen; and grandchildren Aislyn, Samantha and Quincy Otterson.
There will be a private celebration of Bob's life this spring. In memorial, feel free to donate to a Border Collie Rescue or a Horse Rescue of your choice. We would like to thank all of you who have been a part of Bob's life through the years.
