Robert N. Larson
Robert Neil Larson, born June 7, 1929 in Mt. Vernon, WA, passed away
peacefully March 25, 2010 in Stanwood, WA.
Bob grew up on Fir Island and attended elementary school in Conway. He
graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1947. Right after graduating from
Pacific Lutheran College, Bob married his sweetheart, Donnie Hamburg in
1951. Following service in the Korean War, Bob began his long career in
education teaching and later serving as principal in Burlington. He then
moved the family to Belfair when he was principal at North Mason High
School and went on to serve as the Assistant Superintendent position in
Lake Stevens. Bob and Donnie finally settled in Stanwood where he served
as Superintendent for 11 years. After enjoying retirement for a brief two
years, Bob continued his lifelong commitment to his community by serving
as Mayor of Stanwood from 1985 until 1993.
Bob enjoyed 59 wonderful years of marriage with Donnie. They had 4
children, Larry (Val) Larson of Marysville, Dan (DeAnn) Larson of Conway,
Cathy (Reid) Huntington of Camano, and Allen (Darcy) Larson of Arlington.
He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by grandson Ryan Larson and by his parents
Lawrence and Gladys Larson.
Bob enjoyed duck hunting and fishing and spent many hours volunteering
in his community. But above all, Bob enjoyed spending time with his
family, including attending all of grandchildren and great-grandchildren's
sporting events and activities with his loving wife Donnie.
