Richard J. McCoy passed in peace on July 2, 2018 at the age of 90. Richard is survived by wife Ida Mae, his five children, ten grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He was a family man who loved hiking, painting, traveling, and sports.
He was born on December 14, 1927 in St. Louis, MI to Hugh and Katherine McCoy. A retired CPA, Richard graduated from the University of Washington in 1960, and remained an avid Husky football fan until his passing.
Richard's life was filled with many respected accomplishments and leadership roles, including Commander of the Legion, devoted member of the Democratic Party, President of the College Club, and dedicated CPA at a Seattle firm for over twenty years. He was also one of the creators of the Richland Club 40, and was involved in the implementation of the Stanwood Senior Center and the scholarship fund for Stanwood High School graduates. Richard spent most of his life volunteering for civic endeavors and using his energy and voice to make positive change.
Richard will be fondly remembered as a lover of life, advocate of social consciousness, proud patriot and loyal friend to many. The Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 21st at the Stanwood Senior Center at 2pm. All friends & family are invited to attend.
