Richard (Dick) Bower Carr
Dick Carr passed away peacefully on Nov 4 th , 2018 at age 89. He was born August 15, 1929 to Frank and Clare Carr in Lake Stevens, WA. He attended White Elementary and Lake Stevens High School where he met the love of his life, Shirley Hansen. After graduation from high school in 1949, he went to work for Boeing. For the next 41+ years, he worked at Plant 2 in Seattle and the Everett plant as a machinist. He and Shirley were married in 1950. They lived and raised their two children in Lake Stevens where Dick was a volunteer fireman for the Lake Stevens Fire Dept. for many years. In 1986, they moved to Camaloch on Camano Island. Dick retired from Boeing in February 1990. In 1994, they purchased a vacation home in Desert Hot Springs where they would spend many winter months over the course of 11 years. Dick and Shirley, together with Sister-in-law Myrna and husband, Gordon Strand, went on many trips together in their motor homes traveling to Alaska twice, Montana numerous times, and back to the Midwest. They visited many of the eastern and southern states as well. Dick also enjoyed long walks, golfing at Camaloch, and fishing trips including those to Neah Bay and Westport.
Dick is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Shirley, Son Robert, "Bob" (Dena), Sister Peg Leighton, half-brother Steve (Casey), 7 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Cheryl, Brother Bill, and his wife Ruth.
A memorial and celebration of life will be held Saturday, Nov. 17 th , 2018 at the Camaloch Chalet, 326 NE Camano Dr. Camano Island, WA 98282 from 2pm to 5pm. Special thanks to all those who lovingly cared for Dick during his stay at Home Place Memory Care in Burlington, WA.
