Ray passed away peacefully after a long battle with prostate cancer on November 10 in Stanwood, WA at the age of 74. He was surrounded by his four children. Ray was born December 27, 1938 in Toledo, WA and spent parts of his childhood in Oregon, Pennsylvania, Arkansas, and several cities in Washington State. After graduating from Edmonds-Woodway High School in 1956, Ray joined the Air Force Security Service. In the Air Force he spent time in Germany, Turkey, and Biloxi, Mississippi and had many great adventures. Ray earned a degree in Business with a double major in Marketing from the University of Washington in 1968 and later matriculated in Seattle University's MBA program.

Ray worked at GTE for 8 years, after which he became a stock broker and financial advisor. He spent 13 years with Merrill Lynch, then 21 years with Smith Barney and took pride that many of his clients were with him during his entire career. Following his retirement Ray traveled the country in his RV and found great joy in exploring different communities and meeting new people. He particularly enjoyed antiquing and taking photographs. When his travels were eventually sidelined for health reasons, Ray enjoyed spending his final days in Leavenworth and Stanwood in the company of his family. He will be remembered as a loving father, dedicated professional, competitive ping pong player, watch collector, and lover of fine crystal. Ray leaves behind his children Tamara Saimons (Kathryn Turnipseed) of Albuquerque, NM; Russell Saimons (Angelica Murga) of Miami Beach, FL; Rachel Saimons (Colin Teal) of Yakima, WA; Briana O'Brien (Justin O'Brien) of Kirkland, WA and his beloved grandson Connor. Ray is also survived by his mother Alice Saimons; brothers Ron (Jean), Larry (Nancy), and John Saimons; sisters Jean Eppley (Dick), Vickie Saimons, Valerie Panto (Mike), and Mary Ann Saimons; and assorted nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother Winston (Frances). Ray's sense of humor, wisdom, passion for life, and generous spirit will be greatly missed.
