Obituary

Ralph Paul Holman, beloved husband, father and grandfather died peacefully on Nov. 26, 2020 at home under Hospice care with his wife at his side. He was born in Jeffersonville, Ind. on March 8, 1941 the only child of Homer and Kay Holman. In 1945 they moved to Bremerton, WA and in 1958 to Anchorage, AK where he graduated from The Anchorage High School in 1960. He attended Olympic College in Bremerton, Arizona State College and University of Alaska, Anchorage. He met Rae Ellen Dobkowski when she moved to Alaska from N.J. and began work at ARCO in 1969. They married five months later. They raised two sons, Paul (aka Pablos) and Michael (aka Skip). Ralph worked for ARCO in Anchorage and then on the North Slope from 1979 to 1985 when he took "early retirement" and became a full-time house-husband for a year while Rae Ellen became a Realtor - a great learning experience for both of them. They had moved to Soldotna in 1981; in 1988 they moved back to Anchorage and Ralph worked for Unocal retiring in 2003. They bought a home in Seattle with their son and daughter-in-law & one in Borrego Springs, CA to be snowbirds for 12 years. In 2012 they bought a home on Camano Island & became year round residents there in 2015. He was an avid reader, he enjoyed halibut fishing in Alaska, golf, photography, archery, his woodwork shop and his dog Harold. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, his parents-in-law Frank and Eileen Dobkowski, sister-in-law Lois Greaves, brothers-in-law Frank Dobkowski and John Dobkowski. He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Rae Ellen; his two sons, daughters-in-law Kelly and Kris all of Seattle; brothers-in-law Wayne (Elaine) Dobkowski of of Middletown, N.Y.; Marc (Jean) Dobkowski of Big Lake, Alaska; sisters-in-law Claire Erickson of Saddle Brook, N.J.and Linda Dobkowski of Wayne, N.J.; granddaughter Tsion and grandson Hugh of Seattle - and friends all over the world. He was a Christian; because of the Covid virus, there will be no service.
