Obituary

Paul John Shudick died on November 28, 2020 after years of struggling with multiple complications from diabetes. He was 74 years old.

Paul was born on September 15, 1946 in Gary, Indiana to John and Lucille Shudick. In 1964, he graduated from Edison Senior High School located in Lake Station (East Gary), Indiana. Paul served in the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve, 6th Engineering Battalion, in Gary, Indiana and was Honorably Discharged on July 25, 1972. In August, 1973, he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Forensic Science Studies from Indiana University. Paul graduated from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy on November 4, 1972, and he served as a Deputy Sheriff of Porter County from 1972 to 1976. On June 8, 1973, Paul married Janice Hachlica of Gary, Indiana. They built their first home in Hebron, Indiana.

In 1979, Paul and Jan moved to Klamath Falls, Oregon where he attended Oregon Institute of Technolgy and earned Associate of Applied Sciences Degrees in Machining and Welding Processes Technology in June, 1982. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Manufacturing Engineering Technology in June, 1987, also from Oregon Institute of Technology.

For years, Paul worked as a manufacturing engineer for diverse manufacturers. Two of his employers were The Boeing Company in Everett, Washington and Blount, Sporting Equipment Division, in Lewiston, Idaho. Paul and Jan considered themselves fortunate to have been able to live and work in several beautiful locations in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana. Paul's many interests included fishing, hunting, motorcycles, classic cars and machining. He was also the best handyman around. When he was well, he was always busy.

Paul is survived by his wife of over 47 loving years, Jan Shudick of Stanwood, Washington; 3 sisters, Christine (Robert) Crawford of Crown Point, Indiana, Ruth (Ralph) Sisco of Bellingham, Washington and Kathleen (Robert) Lamb of Cypress, Texas; and 1 brother, Robert (Sharon) Shudick of Valparaiso, Indiana. Paul has now joined in Heaven his parents, John and Lucille Shudick, his brother, John Shudick, Jr., his nephews, Rob and Jason Crawford, his cousin, Michael O'Connor and friends, Ron and Linda Yager.

Paul will surely be missed by his family and friends he has left behind.
