IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patrick "Pat"
Mccarthy
December 24, 1937 – March 4, 2022
Patrick "Pat" McCarthy peacefully passed away with family at his bedside March 4th, 2022 at home in
Stanwood, Washington. Pat was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to
many.
Pat was born in Everett, Washington. Later he moved to Seattle where he grew up and attended Lincoln
High School. After graduating, he attended Washington State University and was a member of Sigma Chi
Fraternity.
Pat was a good provider and he was well known for his outstanding work ethic. During the winter months,
he worked as a skilled concrete mason. Fellow co-workers benefited from his years of experience. Most
of all they loved him for his charming personality. Pat was generous with his time and donated many
hours to help people with their home projects, in addition to volunteer work. Family, friends and
community meant everything to him. Guaranteed, if you know Pat, you have a story to tell.
At the tender age of 12 he spent summers working on the family fishing boat, Susan Rae. Fishing was a
way of life for Pat…a second family. After fishing in Chignik, Alaska for 39 years, Pat retired. The years
Pat fished are referred to as "The Golden Years". Pat's hard work, cooking and humor contributed to
many good times on the Susan Rae.
Pat's favorite past times include working in his yard, cooking and traveling to Mexico, Hawaii and Arizona.
After working long days, he would come home and wind down by cooking. He owned the kitchen and took
great pride in making comfort foods family and friends looked forward to eating.
While Pat loved to work, his family never suffered from lack of attention. Pat adored his wife, Irma
McCarthy. Pat and Irma were married for 62 years and started dating in their teen years. As a dad, there
is nothing he would not have done for his two daughters, Lori McCarthy and Kelly McCarthy Moore
He cherished his grandchildren Eli Moore, Lupe "Mac" Cortes, Emmett Moore and Gabriella Cortes. Pat
loved and valued his relationship with his son-in-law, Kirk Moore, sister, Susan Walker and brother, Paul
Johnson. Just prior to Pat passing, he was given great fortune and met his Great Granddaughter, Luna
Cortes. Pat was blessed to have many family members, all of whom he was thankful to have in his life.
Pat was predeceased by Daughter, Lori McCarthy; Mother, Georgia Johnson; Father, Edward "Mac"
McCarthy; Bother, Denny McCarhy Sr.; Brother-in-law, Mike Walker; Nephews, Denny McCarthy and
Christopher Johnson.
As a child, Pat was raised Catholic. In later years, he renewed his faith and was baptized at Our Saviour's
Lutheran Church. His relationship with God allowed him to pass in peace.
Throughout Pat's life, he loved his family and friends.
He will be missed and his memory will live on in our hearts forever.
Memorial to be held at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church 27201 99th Ave NW Stanwood Wa. 98292 on Saturday,
