Obituary

Patricia ("Pat") Ann (Bolger) Jennings of Stanwood and Camano Island, Washington passed on March 14, 2026 at the age of 93.  She had an abiding love of people, theatre, travel, and golf, and enjoyed each of these aspects of her long life while being deeply loved by friends and family.

Pat was born in Medford, Oregon, on May 31, 1932, to William Stephan Bolger and Doris (Dunbar) Bolger. Her older sister, best friend, and closest confidante was Jean Clarice (Bolger) Walsh (deceased). When Pat was a child, the family moved to Yakima, Washington. Pat's father and mother instilled the value of community found in Church, friends, family and co-workers.

With her older sister, Pat attended Forest Ridge School of the Sacred Heart in Seattle, WA, and graduated from the University of Washington in 1954 as an esteemed member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.
After graduation, Pat embarked on a five-month student cruise/tour to Europe with four college friends. Returning to her parents' home in Yakima, her business career was encouraged by a little tough love from her father, who declined to watch her languishing in the family home. One day, he said, "Pat, we have to talk. The time has come for you to disembark from the Good Ship Lollipop and go seek your fortune. The day after tomorrow, I will buy you a ticket to anywhere you want to go and give you $125 in cash."

Pat knew she wanted a career focused on adventure and world travel. She dreamed of working for Scandinavian Airlines (SAS), which she so deeply admired for their extraordinary service in her travels in Europe. What ensued was a six-year campaign to seek employment at SAS while gaining valuable work experience as a fashion retail associate at Fredrick and Nelson, United Airlines reservation agent, and Boeing data analyst. SAS, powerless to Pat's persistence and drive, hired Pat in the Seattle office. A perk of being a travel agent was the opportunity for world travel. And travel she did! Pat went on Safari in South Africa and toured pubs in Ireland. In all, Pat visited 70 countries. Pretty good for a girl from Yakima.

In 1974, Pat decided it was time to settle down a bit and married the love of her life, Jack Jennings of Yakima, WA (a widower with two grown sons). Moving with Jack to Camano Island, Washington, she continued her career in travel service at Stan Isle Travel and Arlington Travel. The couple became avid golfers as charter members of the Camano Island Country Club and members of Camlock 9-hole, where she hit the first hole in one.

Pat was an active member of the Alumni Association of the University of Washington and the Camano Island Quilters' Club. She volunteered at the Carmelite Institute of Spirituality in Stanwood as a parishioner at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church. She was honored to join the esteemed Monday Study Club.

As Pat aged, she never got old. She lunched with friends and had twinkling blue eyes and a wonderful sense of humor.

Pat is survived by four adoring nephews: Paul Walsh (Valarie) of Friday Harbor, Greg Walsh of Bellingham, Doug Walsh (Susan) of Olympia, and Bill Walsh (Melissa) of Seattle; and thirteen grandnephews and grandnieces. Pat serves as an inspiration for her family, especially the young women professionals in the family who stand in awe at the legacy of boldness, daring, and adventure modeled by their Great Aunt. At her request, her services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stanwood Food Bank at 27030  102nd Ave. Stanwood WA, 98292
