Olive Olsen Lundmark
Olive Olsen Lundmark, 93, passed away in Kirkland, WA on January 28, 2009. She was born on April 18, 1915 at the family home in Stanwood, WA the Norman-Florence area. She was the daughter of Christopher and Minnie Olsen, longtime residents of the Stanwood community.
Olive attended Norman and Florence grade schools and graduated from Stanwood High School in 1933. She then attended Griffin-Murphy Business College in Seattle, graduating in a secretarial-business course. In 1934 she was employed by First National Bank of Stanwood where she continued to work until the end of 1965.
In 1966, she married Dr. Vernon Lundmark of Seattle and they made their home on Mercer Island. Following his death in 1971, she was employed by SeaFirst Bank of Seattle In 1974 Olive moved to Bellevue. In 2003 she moved to Aegis Lodge at Totem Lake, Kirkland, WA.
During her years in Stanwood, Olive was active in community affairs, and a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. Throughout her life, she enjoyed traveling, gardening, especially raising beautiful roses, golfing, music, ballroom dancing, learning the Norwegian language and culture, helping others and entertaining family and friends.
Olive leaves her two brothers, Clayton (Joann) Olsen and Robert (Donna) Olsen, of Everett, WA; two sisters, Dorrine Strandrud, of Woodinville, WA and Virginia (Lester) Filion, of Seattle, WA; nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews, cousins and many family relatives in Norway.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her mother and father; and her brother, Orville.
Olive has been grateful for the staff and aides during the past six years while in assisted living at Aegis Lodge at Totem Lake, rhe recent Adult Family Home care at Abundance Love in Kirkland, and for the care received from Evergreen Hospice. A special note of gratitude is given for the ongoing care provided by her niece, Jeanne Nevistic, RN.
A memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, February 7, 2009, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Stanwood, WA. A private graveside service will be held at Anderson Cemetery in Stanwood, WA with Pastor Mark Bankson officiating.
A time of viewing and visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., on Tuesday, February 3, Wednesday, February 4, and Thursday, February 5, 2009, at Gilbertson Funeral Home 27001 88th Ave. NW Stanwood, WA 98292.
