Obituary

Nathan Benedict Maher died peacefully surrounded by family on November 9, 2015 after a four-year battle with cancer. He and his twin brother, Ned, were born in Mountain View, California in 1963, the youngest of eight children. As a child, Nate attended St. Martin Elementary School in Sunnyvale and later graduated from St Francis High School in Mountain View. Inspired by his love of travel, Nate studied to become a travel agent, and for over three decades, enjoyed helping others plan business trips and grand vacations. Nate and his brother, Ned, relocated to the Pacific Northwest in 1990 and settled down in Granite Falls, WA.

In addition to traveling, Nate loved gardening and sports – especially playing tennis and following his beloved Iowa Hawkeyes. Nate loved time spent at family gatherings, particularly around the holidays. His family and friends will miss his humility, loving generosity, and sense of humor. He is survived by his siblings Diane Bowers (William), Bridget Centofante (Charlie), Michael (Linda), Timothy, Douglas (Donna), Brian (Lanie), Ned, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Nate was preceded in death by his father Daniel, his mother Joanne, and his sister-in-law Cindy.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Lake Stevens, WA on November 19, 2015 at 11am.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society: https://donate.cancer.org or to Providence Hospice Care: http://washington.providence.org/in-home-services/hospice-of-seattle/donate-and-volunteer would be greatly appreciated.

The family would like to thank Nate's most recent employer, the Tulalip Tribes for their support and friendship to Nate and his family.
