Nancy Eileen Carroll Bingell was born in Seattle to Marie Ann Gerlach Carroll and Henry Patrick Carroll on October 12, 1945. Along with her two brothers, Bruce and David, she grew up in the Green Lake neighborhood attending McDonald Elementary, Hamilton Junior High and Lincoln High School.
Nancy enjoyed an idyllic childhood and grew up partaking in many classic Seattle experiences, including participating in the Green Lake Swim Follies, ice skating at the Seattle Center with her brothers, watching the hydroplane races from the deck of family friends in Mercer Island, and working at the Arctic Club.
Nancy earned her undergraduate and masters degrees at Central Washington University where she met the love of her life, Ted Bingell, her husband of 46 years. Ted and Nancy married in Seattle after which they moved to Warm Beach where they raised their two daughters, Renee' Katherine and Amy Marie. Nancy took her last breath in the house just as the sun was setting over Port Susan Bay.
Nancy started her teaching career in Medina, WA, but spent the majority of her years in the Stanwood School District teaching fourth grade, later becoming a reading specialist. She was revered for her dedication, advice, and creativity.
Nancy and Ted built a beautiful home in Warm Beach. Nancy was a kind, generous, and dignified daughter, sister, wife and mother. She was a devoted mom, encouraging and supporting her daughters. She never missed a game, match, or school event. Along with Ted, they cheered on their girls and their teammates whose parents could not attend.
Nancy was an accomplished seamstress and talented weaver. She loved hosting dinner parties where she could showcase her culinary skills and enjoyed the coming together of friends and family. She took pride in her welcoming home, loving family and circle of friends, and a life well-lived. Simply put, Nancy was smart, creative, and full of grace and joy.
Just as a skilled seamstress approaches a new garment, Nancy approached life with an eye for design, boundless patience, and careful planning. Every life has snags, loose threads, and seams that come apart. But she always knew how to mend the tears and make things whole again—and many times, even more beautiful.
She is survived by her daughters, Renee ’Katherine (Gordon) Graham and Amy Marie Bingell; brother David (Susi) Carroll; nephews Christopher Marti and Joseph (Kate) Marti; and nieces Jenny (Travis) Counsell and Laura (Nick) Slater. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ted, and brother Bruce Henry Carroll.
