Obituary

Mitchell (Mitch) Kalman Klein was born on November 29, 1955 in Big Rapids, Michigan to Royal and Blanche Klein and went to his eternal home with Jesus on August 21, 2022. Mitch grew up in Lansing, Michigan and graduated from Michigan State University before moving to Portland, Oregon where he attended Western Conservative Baptist Seminary. After graduation he worked at Temple Baptist Church, where he met his future wife Debbie whom he would wed in 1984. In 1986 he was called to serve as pastor at Cedarhome Baptist Church in Stanwood , WA where he ministered for 27 + years, mixing his faithful teaching of the Bible with a signature humorous style. After "retiring" from full time ministry in 2013, he and Debbie went on several road trips and to their favorite spots on the Oregon coast before serving as interim pastor at four churches , including the last 18 months back at his long time home Cedarhome Baptist.

Mitch is survived by his loving wife Debbie, sons Ryan (Cassie), Dan, and Matthew, grandson Hayes, and sisters Esther and Gail. Mitch was a long time coach for all of his sons and an avid baseball and football fan, creating many lifelong relationships through his involvement in youth sports. Along with sports, Mitch was an avid woodworker creating many pieces of furniture.

Mitch's life was most aptly characterized by a continual desire to be close to Jesus as well as his love for his wife, his family and his church. He will be missed but there is a peace and a hope in knowing that his greatest joy has been fulfilled and there is the chance to see him again in glory.

A service will be held on Friday, September 2, 2022 at Cedarhome Baptist Church which can also be viewed on the church's Facebook page and YouTube channel for those unable to attend.
