Obituary

Michael Lynn Hoskins, born April 4, 1948 passed away peacefully June 20, 2023. Michael loved Jesus and is a proud Marine who served our country faithfully during the Vietnam war. He will be missed by so many.

Michael was born in Seattle Washington. His favorite place was Camano Island where he grew up as a kid and eventually he built a home and moved back where he lived until just six short months ago. It always held a special place in his heart and was the only place he considered home.

Being a Marine is what defined Michael. He was faithful to his service in Vietnam and to helping others. Michael and his best friend John worked together to create a ministry to help homeless veterans, by opening a home for them to come for help. They would help them obtain needed military paperwork, such as their DD-214, drivers license, and any other social services they could connect them with. They came along side these men to help them and give them the tools needed to re-enter society. It was a place that helped foster new beginnings for veterans who sacrificed and fought for our country.

He was a man of many talents. For many years he ran his own companies from designing and building houses, to plumbing, to counseling. Creating unique structure designs was definitely his specialty. His house designs always had so much character and charm.

He also loved to write and draw. Michael was working on a book from his time in Vietnam. He had a gift with words and detail to bring his writing to life. He could also draw almost anything and bring it to life with all the detail and color he added. Both writing and drawing were a natural gift that he had.

Michael loved everything sports! From playing baseball and basketball in his younger days to always watching and never missing a Seattle Seahawks or Mariners game.

One of dad's favorite verses was Romans 8:1-2 (1) There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. (2) For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.

As sad as it is to say goodbye, our dad is no longer in pain and is loving being in heaven. He is loved and will be missed. He is survived by his daughter Shantelle, his son Dru, his daughter Rashelle and her husband Seann, his son Adam and his wife Emily, his wife Kimberly and her daughter Lisa and 14 amazing grandchildren.

Until we meet again Dad! We love you!

Psalm 23:4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
