Marlene Ann Schuster

Marlene Waale Schuster passed away May 24th, 2026, just one day shy of her 90th birthday. Born in 1936 in Anthon, Iowa, to Carl and Atha Lee, Marlene and her family made their way to Stanwood, Washington when she was five. She married her high school sweetheart, Elvin Waale, and together they had five children, Diane Anderson (Les), Joan Waale, Debra Templeton (Keith), Jane Wyatt (Scott) and John Waale. She is survived by all five of her children, five grandsons (Austin and Morgan Anderson, Brian and Kyle Templeton, and Matt Wyatt), one granddaughter (Molly Wyatt), and three great-grandsons (Torvald and Hjalmar Anderson, and Carter Wyatt). She loved her family dearly, including her five brothers, nieces and nephews and was a beloved friend to many. Marlene worked as a nurse for several years in maternity and pediatrics.

After Elvin’s death in 1985, Marlene lived for several years on the East Coast, and spent many winters in Arizona as a snowbird.

She was a longtime member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, and loved music, floral arranging, playing games and is sure to now be singing in the heavenly choir.

A celebration of life will be determined at a later date.
