Obituary

Marilyn Kathleen Northrup was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, registered nurse, caregiver, neighbor, humanitarian, and child of God.

She was born on August 30, 1928, in Yakima, Washington, the first daughter of Hazel Raeburn (of Starbuck, Washington) and Thomas Merton McRayde (of Dayton, Washington).

Marilyn and her sister, Gloria, attended Yakima Public Schools, and also the First Christian Church of Yakima, where Marilyn and Gloria accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior at an early age. Marilyn loved the Lord and taught each of her children about the God who loved them. She served her Spokane church, North Hill Christian Church, as a Sunday school piano player and teacher. She faithfully attended the church for over 6o years. When aging health issues restricted her mobility, she was faithful in her daily bible study, prayer for family members and others on her intercessory prayer list, and enjoyed watching TV-based ministries.

Marilyn served as a registered nurse for Deaconess Hospital, Spokane, Washington, for over two decades. She ministered to thousands of patients in the post-surgical and OBGYN wards during that time. She also provided palliative "end-of-life" care to residents in a Spokane nursing home in the final years of her nursing career.

Marilyn was known for her spectacular collection of classic murder mysteries, a deep love of her country, football, Mt. Rainier, playing board and card games with children and grandchildren, fondness for cats, and church.

She is survived and her life is celebrated by:

Sister, Gloria Martin (Ellis) of Redding, California and their children, grandchildren and great -grandchildren.

Marilyn's children:

Pamela K. Evans

Candace L. Acevedo (Gil)

Kathi A. Harvey (Ken)
