IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marilyn Louise
Hackler
June 7, 1932 – December 17, 2024
Marilyn Louise (Wilson) Hackler peacefully passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2024.
Marilyn was born June 7, 1932 to Don and Evelyn Wilson in Everett, WA. She had four siblings: Dennis, Donna, Arene, and Evan. As a toddler, she won a pretty baby contest. In 1950, she graduated from Everett High School, where she participated in the glee club.
On July 18, 1951, Marilyn married the love of her life and best friend, Myron (Mike)
Hackler, prior to his military service on Okinawa. In nearly 60 years of marriage before Mike's passing in 2011, they were members of Trinity Lutheran Church - Everett and later Camano Lutheran Church. She sang in the church choir for over 40 years.
Along with raising her children, Marilyn worked as a switchboard operator for the phone company and as a bookkeeper for her brother's business.
Like her husband, who taught her, Marilyn had a passion for golf. She was a member of the Cedarerest Women's Club and later the Camaloch Ladies Golf Club. She and Mike enjoyed many golf vacations, from South Carolina to Hawaii. Her proudest accomplishments on the course were her five holes in one (Mike had zero).
Marilyn enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting, and crocheting. She loved to travel, play the piano, and host impromptu front yard parties for her neighbors on Camano Island. She loved to dance, often spending Saturday evenings dancing with Mike at the Mobile Country Club. Her favorite song was "The Girl from Impamena" often breaking out in dance when she heard Marilyn leaves behind her beloved children, Linda (Cliff) Schultz of Edmonds, WA, Terry (Sue) Hackler of Spokane, WA, and Bob (Andrea Hackler of Cave Creek, AZ. She loved her grandchildren, Aaron (Sara) and Emily Schultz and Benjamin and Joshua Hackler. She enjoyed hosting them for weekend sleepovers.
Her family was her pride. She relished family gatherings, like the joy of Christmas Day brunch. Recently, her first great-grandchild, Lillie, arrived, and another is on the way.
She was loved by her family and friends and will be deeply missed.
