IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Margaret Sayre
Day
November 1, 1936 – March 5, 2023
Our loving mother, Margaret Sayre Day, passed into the arms of her Savior on March 5, 2023. The oldest of 4 children, she was born on November 1, 1936, to Thomas Breeden Dodgson and Agnes Sayre Cooney Dodgson in Hiawatha, Utah. Her family moved to the south end of Camano Island when she was 10 years old, and she received the Lord as her Savior at DVBS at Mabana Sunday School. From a young age, Margaret gained an interest in caring for people by assisting her father who was a medical doctor in Stanwood and Camano Island, even going on house calls with him. She graduated from Stanwood High School in 1955, and received her RN degree from Swedish Covenant Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago in 1958. She met Kenneth Emerson Day at Emmaus Bible School, and they were married in August of 1960. They moved to Stanwood in 1963, where Ken started his chiropractic practice, and where she worked as a charge nurse at Josephine Sunset Home. Her priority was definitely her family, but she found time to lead a women's Bible study, teach a Sunday School class, and support her husband who was active in the community.
She is survived by her 5 children: Debbie (Monte) Ruble of Conway, WA, David (Karen) Day of Portland, OR, Daniel (Gina) Day of Vinita, OK, John (Ngozi) Day of Longbranch, WA, and Elizabeth (Sarah) Day of Stockton, CA. She leaves behind 22 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren, and siblings Thomas "Bud" Dodgson, Robert (Sandy) Dodgson, and Ann (Jack) Dorsey. Margaret was deeply involved in all of the lives and interests of her family. She faithfully supported and cared for her husband Kenneth until he passed away in 2011.
Margaret loved people, and made friends everywhere she went. She enjoyed living in the Heather Village Christian Retirement community reconnecting with life-long friends and making new ones. She was also very active as a member of Summit Park Bible Church, developing close relationships with other believers and serving for many years on the Mission Committee, which was an abiding passion of her heart. Margaret passed away at Skagit Valley Hospital surrounded by her family, as we sang her Home to be with her Savior with many of her favorite hymns.
A graveside service for family and close friends will be held at 11:00 am on March 25, 2023, at Anderson Cemetery in Stanwood. All are invited to a memorial service celebrating Margaret's life and faith at Summit Park Bible Church in Anacortes, WA, at 1:30 pm later that day. This will be followed by a time of refreshment and reminiscing.
