IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Margaret
Babb
December 12, 1947 – September 1, 2022
Margaret Hardy Babb, of Camano Island, died on September 1, 2022, following a brief illness.
Born in Seattle on December 12,1947 to Maurice and Mary Hardy, Margaret (Margie) grew up in Everett, attending Immaculate Conception School and graduating from Everett High School in 1966. She attended Marylhurst College before transferring to Seattle University in 1967, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education. It was at Seattle U. that she met the love of her life, Bill, who she married in 1969. She and Bill settled in Bothell, where they raised their three children and where Margie taught fourth grade at Saint Brendan's School.
As a young girl, Margie had a passion for horses and loved riding her horse, Powderpuff in competitions and parades as a 4-H club member, becoming an accomplished and knowledgeable rider. Later in life she saw a lifelong dream fulfilled when she had the opportunity to travel to the Spanish Riding School in Vienna, Austria, to see the Royal Lipizzaner Stallions perform.
She was also very athletic but at a time when athletics were not yet available to young women. So, she did the next best thing and became a cheerleader, both at Everett High and Seattle U.
Margie was a talented gardener. Her yards were always beautiful, and she was always willing to help those of us who may not have been blessed with that particular gift.
She and Bill loved traveling, whether it was touring Ireland, England and Austria, or seeing the Caribbean, Canada or the United States. Their most recent trip was to the Midwest, visiting the Badlands, Montana, Jackson Hole and Yellowstone Park with the final stop being a stay at a dude ranch in Wyoming.
She treasured her time with her kids and grandkids. She was so very proud of the adults her sons and daughter had become and of their many accomplishments. Her grandchildren brought her endless joy and any opportunity to see them was welcomed. She even set up "Grandma School" for the younger ones during the pandemic, teaching them so they wouldn't fall behind.
As a beloved sister and trusted confidante, she always tried to get the family together, whether for holidays or for no occasion at all, just to see each other and catch up. Family was everything to her and she so enjoyed spending time with not only her siblings, but her many cousins living in the area.
Margie was kind, generous, fiercely loyal and wickedly funny. She was also sentimental, spiritual, and unwavering in her Faith. She leaves behind her husband of 53 years, Bill, her sons Tim and Matt (BreeAnn), her daughter, Sheila (Timothy), 8 grandchildren: Isabella, Gracen, Finnegan, Delaney, Emily, Ella, Tucker and Tarryn, 6 siblings: Maureen Schmidt (Noel), Sheila Hardy, Eugene Hardy, Mary Ellen Hardy, Jennifer Rinehart (Bill) and Patrice Hardy, her sister-in-law, Patti Lamas, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and countless, friends, colleagues and acquaintances who were blessed to have known her.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Saint Brendan Church in Bothell, WA on Friday, September 9, 2022 at 11:00am. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 10:00am. Reception following in parish hall.
