Obituary

Lorence McNaughton known as Mac to his many friends and "Bubs" to his loving family passed away peacefully at home April 5th, 2014 with the love of his life and wife of 62 years Connie by his side.

Lorence was born in 1927 in Eureka, Montana to John and Ella McNaughton. At age 3 the family moved to Fernie, BC where he spent his formative years. Lorence had 10 siblings and is preceded in death by four of his brothers; Stan, John, Duane, and Michael Lynn.

Shortly after graduating High School Lorence followed his older brothers to Seattle in 1947, enrolled in classes at Seattle University, and in time went to work for Pacific NW Bell where he enjoyed a 38 year career, retiring in 1987. Lorence was a Korean Army war veteran and served in Korea during that conflict. Prior to being shipped overseas he met his future wife Connie (she was a member of the phone company's softball team and he was the coach). They were married in 1952 while he was on leave and following his discharge settled in to raise a family.

Family was important to Lorence and he remained very close to his siblings throughout his life. He enjoyed the parties (sometimes raucous, always fun) and impromptu get togethers, and made sure everyone felt welcome.

Lorence loved all sports, particularly baseball and in retirement took up golf. In 1993 he and Connie moved to Camano Island where they took up residence in the Camaloch golf community. Interestingly enough several of his brothers did the same and they developed numerous new friendships and long lasting memories.

Lorence is survived by his loving wife Connie, six brothers and sisters; June, Allen (Betty), Jack (Yvonne), Joyce (Clare), George (Marilyn), and Jeanne (John), four sons: Mike (Barbara), Mark (Marna), Jim (Barbara), and Jeff (Josi), eight grandchildren; Emily, Katy, Lisa, Jeff, Nick, Sara, Michael, and Matthew. He also leaves numerous nieces and nephews.

Lorence was a great man – loved by many people. His dry sense of humor, kind heart, love of family, generosity, and positive outlook will be missed by all.
