Obituary

Lois loved life, and she excelled at it. Her personality was positive and genuine, and she was an inspiration to those around her.

Lois attended grades one through nine in a one-room schoolhouse on Mercer Island, then went on to attend Bellevue High School. She was an exceptional athlete and lettered in sports, from archery to basketball, baseball and volleyball. Years later, she took up golf, landing three holes in one (four, but she said that one didn't count!) She was given so many blue bird pins for her achievements that we continue to find them among her things. Growing up on Lake Washington, she was also a terrific swimmer, and had one of the best jackknife dives you've ever seen.

She met her partner for life, John William Henry "Hank" Chellson, while ice skating on Ennis Pond on Mercer Island, and they were married August 29, 1947. What a team they made! Both were inventive and industrious throughout their wonderful, 72 years of marriage. Together they built a beautiful life and family, starting with little and creating so much. Lois even made Hank ties for work. The shared values and beliefs they held shaped the legacy they have left behind.

Lois was incredibly strong and hard working. The passion for living Lois embraced throughout her life was contagious, and it was impossible not to catch it when you were with her. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Lois is survived by her children, Mark Chellson (Mary Pat Chellson), Lindy Van Sickle (Barry Van Sickle), Clifford Chellson, and her grandchildren Colin Veach (Jessica Veach), Dustin Chellson, Michelle Rowlett, and Julie Rowlett (Michail Verskajn).

A private family celebration to honor her life will be held in the future.
