Obituary

Kenneth Gordon Miley passed away peacefully on June 20, 2024 after a brief illness. Born on November 5, 1940 in Seattle, he grew up in the Green Lake area and graduated from Lincoln High School and the University of Washington.

Ken's early career included roles in forestry, teaching and real estate. In 1975, he moved to Stanwood and found his true calling in architectural design. In the mid-1980s, he founded Designs Northwest, finding great satisfaction in helping clients realize their dream homes.

Ken was a lifelong lover of the saltwater. He enjoyed fishing, crabbing and water skiing at the cabin his family built at McKee's Beach in the 1950s. For the past 36 years, he also treasured time at his cabin on Sinclair Island, using it as a base to explore the San Juan Islands.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Kathleen, and their daughters, Kristin of New York City and, Meghan of Seattle. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Robert Enloe, his sister-in-law Sheila Quentin and his extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Elsie Miley, his brother and sister-in-law, Lee and Karen Miley and his brother-in-law, James Quentin.

Ken received exceptional care from Providence Hospice of Snohomish County and other dedicated caregivers who made it possible for him to spend his final days comfortably at home. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no service. To honor his memory, donations may be made to Providence Hospice of Snohomish County (1615 75th St SW Ste. 210, Everett, WA 98293) or The Caring Place in Stanwood (9928 272nd Place NW, Stanwood, WA 98292).
