Kenneth Herbert Christoferson
December 29, 1926 - December 31, 2016
Kenneth Herbert Christoferson passed away peacefully on December 31, 2016, just after celebrating his 90th birthday surrounded by family. Born on December 29, 1926 in LaCrosse, Washington; Kenneth was the third of Ole and Marit Christoferson's four children. He moved to Stanwood (Cedarhome) with his family and siblings Grace, Orville, and Henrietta, shortly thereafter and attended East Stanwood Schools. He served in the United States Army. Kenneth met his beloved wife, Betty, in 1946 at Pictsweet and was married in 1949. He worked at Wallace Chevrolet Dealership, Arlington Sand and Gravel, and in 1966 was one of the founders of Stanwood Redi-Mix, Inc. He later became owner of Stanwood Redi-Mix, where he retired from in 1991.
Complementing his strong work-ethic, he was active in his community, as a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, a board member of Josephine Sunset Home, Fire Commissioner for District 14, involved in Cub Scouts, an avid Stanwood sports fan, and a longtime member of the Stanwood Lion's Club, where he could always be found at the annual Lutefisk Dinner.
Above all Kenneth valued time with his family and friends, spending many summers and vacations at Wapato Point on Lake Chelan, working on his Christmas light display, and sharing his love of antiques, especially Model A's and old cars. He was a caring, kind, and loving friend, husband, father, and grandparent.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Betty; children Ken Christoferson Jr. (Barbara); Sharon Acuff (David); Jeanne Christoferson; Brian Christoferson (Cindy); Warren Christoferson; and Linda Schoen, ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, sister Grace Barlond and sister-in-law Alice Jacobs, as well as many extended family members.
Our family extends our deepest gratitude to staff at Brookdale Assisted Living and Leeside Manor for the loving care they provided.
Memorial services will be held at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Stanwood, Washington on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 11 a.m. Public viewing will be held at Gilbertson Funeral Home on January 5 and 6, 2017 between 10-4:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Our Saviour's Lutheran Church or charity of your choice.
