Kathrine E. (Coleman) Hershey was born on April 6, 1942, in Dustin, Oklahoma. Throughout her life, she called several places home, including Oklahoma; Phoenix, Arizona, where she graduated from Phoenix High School; St. Charles, Illinois; and Stanwood, Washington.
In 1962, she married her soulmate, Donald W. Hershey. Together they built a loving family and raised three sons. On September 14, 2026, Kathrine entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald; her son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Ginene Hershey; her parents John and Elizabeth Coleman; and her brothers, Robert, John Dale, and Carl Wayne Coleman.
She is survived by her sons, Benjamin (Dianne) Hershey and Keith (Leanna) Hershey; her grandchildren, Craig (Janet) Hershey, Nicholas Hershey, Rachel Hershey, Kyle Hershey, and Zachary Hershey; her brother, Billie “Bill” Coleman; her sister, Janet Coleman; numerous nieces and nephews; and spiritual daughter Sharon Rix.
Kathy loved the Lord and cherished her family. Throughout her life, she demonstrated her faith through her words, actions, and service to others. She was an avid reader who also enjoyed painting watercolors, crocheting, and cross-stitching. She found great joy in tending her flowers and houseplants and especially enjoyed watching birds, particularly cardinals and finches.
Kathy also dedicated many hours to bookkeeping for the churches she attended. She maintained lifelong friendships with neighbors and church friends, staying connected with many throughout the years. She and her husband loved opening their home to friends, family, church groups, and neighbors for meals, fellowship, and games. In her later years, her favorite pastimes were playing Farkle and watching Hudson & Rex.
Most dear to her heart was reading her Bible and serving in children's ministry. Whether in the nursery, Sunday school classes, or Vacation Bible School, Kathrine loved sharing her faith and demonstrating Christ's love to children and families. Her faithful example and unwavering trust in God leave a legacy that will continue to influence generations to come.
