Karen Marie (Wheeler) Grennan was born January 14, 1989, to William and Barbara (Lampi) Wheeler on the island of Adak Alaska. She attended schools in both Arlington and Stanwood Washington, graduating from Lincoln Hill High School in 2008. After high school, she took many courses at Skagit Valley Community College. In high school Karen started working for Arlington Power Equipment with her stepfather, and also worked at Starbucks and Target Corporation.
On June 7th, 2014, Karen was united in marriage with Joshua Grennan in Mt. Vernon, Washington. Together they were raising their two sons, Riley and Jordan.
Karen had many passions including photography, dancing, and reading. She was an avid sports fan, especially football and baseball. She loved attending sporting events and wearing her Seahawks gear. She also had a lifelong love of racing and attended many events at Skagit Speedway with her family. Her greatest joy was watching her two sons play football and baseball and watching her nieces and nephews play various sports.
God called Karen home on Sunday, June 23rd at Swedish Medical Center - First Hill in Seattle, Washington. Her family would like to extend their gratitude for the care she received from the medical staff there.
Karen is survived by her father William Wheeler, mother Barbara (Ronald) Stratton, step-grandmother Adeline Stratton, sister Valerie (Trevor) Wheeler Deyo, step-brother Kevin (Katie) Stratton, step-sister Larissa (Christopher) Wortham, step-brother Darren (Nicole) Stratton, children Riley and Jordan Grennan, and 9 nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her grandparents Victor and Marcella Wheeler, grandparents Oscar and Lucille Lampi, and step-grandfather Robert Stratton.
Karen's Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 27th at 10:30am at Rock Creek Church in Marysville, Washington with Pastor Amy Lefotu officiating.
Inurnment will be held Friday, August 2nd at 12pm at Highland Cemetery in Ray, North Dakota with Father Corey Nelson officiating her graveside service.
