Joel Keith Thorson

Joel Keith Thorson went to be with the Lord on April 17, 2026 following having cancer and some treatments in Everett, WA. Joel was preceded in death by his parents Harold Norman and Isabelle Logen Thorson. He is survived by his sister Dianne George and her husband David; ex-wife Makenna Reilly; Leslie Rios with 2 daughters Xochitl (Zoey) and Citlali (Cici); son Devon Thorson and his wife Anna with 2 sons Baxter and Edward; and daughter Kristen Thorson; plus many cousins. Joel was proud of his kids and 4 grandchildren. He grew up in Warm Beach, going to Stanwood schools and graduating high school in 1967. He then went to Washington State University for 4 years and got a degree in Chemical Engineering, followed by 3 years in the Army as a SP5 in Fort Bragg, NC. When he returned home he worked at the Stanwood Post Office for 50 years. He was considered a positive, caring person with family, friends and work. He enjoyed gardening especially growing dahlias, going rock hounding, walking the beach to look for agates, reading, playing games on the computer, plus playing games with family. Donations may be made to Stanwood Area Historical Society or one of your choice. A memorial service for Joel will be held on Friday, May 1st at 1pm at Gilbertson Funeral Home in Stanwood.
