IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joan Vivian
Ruscha
December 1, 1934 – November 22, 2022
Joan Vivian Ruscha - December 1, 1934 - November 22, 2022 Joan Vivian Ruscha was born to E. E. (Gene) and Vivian R. Ingham in Everett, WA. She was the youngest of three children. She graduated Ballard High School, and Seattle Pacific University. She married Charles (Chuck) Ruscha in 1958 and together they lived in Seattle WA, Tempe AZ, Fresno CA, Kirkland WA, retiring to Camano Island until a final move to Warm Beach.
Joan was a devoted and loving wife, mother (six), grandmother (nine) and great-grandmother (eight). A woman of faith, she was active at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Kenmore, WA and St. Cecelia in Stanwood, WA participating in various ministries including grief and adult education as well as enjoying small faith groups.
After many years as a stay-at-home mom, Joan became an elementary school teacher working at Christ the King School and Lake Washington School District. She had an entrepreneur spirit and turned several personal interests into business ventures including "Vines that Tie", a wreath making business.
As a child her family spent a lot of time at her grandparents home on Camano Island. Later this property was a weekend family cabin and eventually where a new home was built by son, Ron. The years spent there were some of her happiest as she and Chuck enjoyed views of the Olympic mountains and sunsets over the sound. Her joy was to take daily walks with neighborhood friends, planning family trips and gatherings, and puttering in the garden.
Joan was a life-long learner with many interests including nature, gardening, hiking and traveling. She was an avid reader especially enjoying history and science. Joan took a wide variety of classes and enjoyed participating in many clubs over the years including square dancing, Toastmasters, and quilting. She also volunteered with the Mabana Flames (supporting Camano Is. Volunteer Fire & Rescue).
Joan is survived by her husband, Chuck Ruscha and children, Sheryl Wood, Ron (Thuy) Ruscha, Marty (Sue) Ruscha, Melanie (Mark) Kozlowski, Ted (Kerri) Ruscha, Paul (Yuka) Ruscha; Grandchildren Lucas (Haley) Wood, Matthew (Melissa) Ruscha, Renee (Dusten) Lima, Brittany (Eric) Ruscha, Sarah Kozlowski, Jadon Ruscha, Ryan Ruscha, Miquel Ruscha, Cameron Ruscha and many great-grandchildren.
