Obituary

Joan L. Moore passed away on Friday, December 28, 2012 in Mount Vernon, WA. She was born on February 14, 1931, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, to Joseph W. and Anna Leadenham. She graduated from Abraham Clark High School in Roselle, NJ in 1948, where she participated in many clubs, most notably the Latin Club, A Capella Choir, National Honor Society, and Band, where she played the Tenor Saxophone. She attended Union Junior College for 2 Years.
On July 26, 1952, she married 1st Lieutenant John W. Moore, and they had a happy marriage for more than 60 Years. Joan worked as an assistant Librarian at Watchung Hills Regional HS in Warren, NJ, for several years, and then managed a clerical department at Hooper Holmes and co. in Basking Ridge.
In 1993, she and John moved to Stanwood, WA, where they were near family. They enjoyed exploring their new environment together, and several favorite locations to enjoy picnic lunches.
They had some adventures as they travelled the area, one being only 2 blocks away from the fire when the Bellingham pipeline leak burst into flames.
Joan enjoyed watching tennis, and was a permanent fixture at Stanwood Varsity women's games in the early 2000's, offering words of encouragement to players and coaches alike.
Joan is survived by her husband John, to children; Lynn and John Jr., five grandchildren; Justin, Elizabeth,Gregory,Carleigh, and Jeffrey, nieces; Leslie, Cindy and Melanie and nephews; Paul, Dean and Robert. She had made many fiends over the years that are spread all over the country as well as many right in the Stanwood area. she is and will be greatly missed by all.
