On Wednesday October 28th our dad, Jerry Small 89 of Stanwood, left to walk in a better place. He was born to Jesse and Evelyn (Sunberg) Small, May 30th 1937 in Seattle, WA. The family returned to Stanwood, where he grew up around extended family and graduated from Stanwood High School in 1955.

From a young boy, his love and interest of animals, raising chickens, pigs and milking cows, shaped his career as a Dairy Farmer. He was active in FFA throughout High School, taking part in several different activities, including public speaking and going on to earn his American Farmers Degree. He milked Jersey cows and raised a family with Karen (Castano) on the farm in Cedarhome, leaving that love of animals to several of his kids, grandkids and great grandkids.

He was a kind, talkative guy who loved to visit with people and be on the farm. In later years he spent time traveling and square dancing with Marlys and enjoyed his woodworking projects. In the last couple of years, he enjoyed going for adventures and being with his family, doing jigsaw puzzles, crosswords and Sudoku puzzles. His grandkids and great grandkids were the world to him.

He leaves behind his three children Heidi and (Dennis) Montoya, Hether and (Walt) Thomas and Eric and (Holly) Small, his 11 grandkids Katie and (Neil) Wood, Brandon and (Jenica) Nickels, Carl and (Ashleigh) Montoya, Eric and (Rachelle) Montoya, Angela and ( Jason) Izzard, Walter and (Megan) Thomas, Jesse and (Josh) Hart, Leif and (Mickel) Small, Carmen and (Eli) Locken, Baird Small and Bjorn Small. Along with 16 great grandchildren. Also, his partner of 20+ years, Marlys Schirmer and her family.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Sat, November 21st, from 1-4pm, at the Stanwood Camano Fair Grounds, Bonnie Susan Cole Building.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Stanwood FFA.
