Jean Strzelecki passed away peacefully at her home in Stanwood, Washington. Jean (Jennie) Strzelecki was born in Lethbridge, Alberta Canada as the daughter of John and Mary Badik. Her father was a coal miner. When she was fourteen years old her mother died when their family cabin burned down. Eventually Jennie moved to Vancouver, British Columbia to live with one of her aunts. While in Vancouver she met her future husband Ray Strzelecki who was a U.S. citizen. Jennie moved to Seattle and was married to "the love of her life: soon thereafter. Jennie was married for 46 years. Ray and Jennie settled in Seattle to start their lives together. Jennie changed her name to Jean when she became a U.S. citizen. Ray and Jean had three children born and raised in the Seattle area, Raymond, Stephen, and Barbara. Jean was preceded in death by her son Stephen in 1994 and her loving husband in 1995.
Jean had a passion for gardening and grandchildren. Besides being a mom Jean had occupations as a cocktail waitress, realtor, and real estate broker before retiring. She loved to sew, knit, crochet and work with Ukrainian eggs. She never got her childhood love for the outdoors out of her system. She loved fishing in the Cascade mountain streams, blackberry and wild blueberry picking and hunting for mushrooms. Jean volunteered at the local Stanwood Senior Center where she loved to garden on the center's property.
Jean is survived by her son Raymond Strzelecki (wife Barbara Lee) of Lake Forest Park, WA and their son Michael of Lake Forest Park, WA. She is also survived by daughter Barbara Jean Burnham (husband Shawn) of Stanwood, WA with daughters Kassandra and Kristine of Stanwood WA., and one great granddaughter Mackenzie. Jean is also survived by many relatives of her and her husband scattered across Canada and the United States.
